The Halloween Creep!

I want to give an official welcome to some of our new bootcampers. . Welcome aboard Tom,Charlene, Brett, Levonia, Lisa, Stephanie ,David and Aisulu!

As the summer draws nearer to the end we need to remember we're going into a crazy season when it comes to our health, nutrition and exercise SO I want to remind you that the time is NOW to make the changes most people usually make for their "New Years Resolutions" .
Most of us have already probably automatically fast-forwarded in our minds to Late November when we think of the holiday weight-gain, but it creeps up earlier than that.

In reality, Halloween is the official start of the holiday weight-gain season. As a result, many of us are slowly packing on the pounds before we even realize it!

It is estimated that 26 pounds of candy is consumed per capita in America yearly and It is believed that a large portion of the candy is consumed around Halloween.

That is a lot of candy to consume in a short amount of time!

Thats just the Candy but don't forget alcohol is a sugar too!

And it all STARTS at Halloween.

The sweet tooth fairy is like a bad party guest.

She visits early and stays late ,lasting the entire span of fall and into winter delivering candycorn and gummy worms then later bringing the snowman shaped marshmallows and Christmas tree-shaped chocolates.

I know, my mouth is watering too!
Many of us think we are lucky or it won't happen to you and may not gain more than 1-3 pounds during the holiday season compared to those who may gain 5-10 pounds. However, most of us NEVER lose the pound or two we gain and continue this EVERY YEAR. Ten years later, we are 20 pounds heavier! The key is to control what goes into your body AND to expend a bountiful of calories.

So what can we do to fight what usually feels like the inevitable?

As a starter,Instead of consuming processed sugar and fat laden treats like there is no tomorrow, replace them with homemade goodies.

Here are some ideas you can either try for yourself or bring the family in and make it a family affair.

Nutty Chocolaty Frozen Bananas,
Guilt-Free Pumpkin Pie
Creamy Pumpkin Smoothie.
