The Halloween Creep!

I want to give an official welcome to some of our new bootcampers. . Welcome aboard Tom,Charlene, Brett, Levonia, Lisa, Stephanie ,David and Aisulu!

As the summer draws nearer to the end we need to remember we're going into a crazy season when it comes to our health, nutrition and exercise SO I want to remind you that the time is NOW to make the changes most people usually make for their "New Years Resolutions" .
Most of us have already probably automatically fast-forwarded in our minds to Late November when we think of the holiday weight-gain, but it creeps up earlier than that.

In reality, Halloween is the official start of the holiday weight-gain season. As a result, many of us are slowly packing on the pounds before we even realize it!

It is estimated that 26 pounds of candy is consumed per capita in America yearly and It is believed that a large portion of the candy is consumed around Halloween.

That is a lot of candy to consume in a short amount of time!

Thats just the Candy but don't forget alcohol is a sugar too!

And it all STARTS at Halloween.

The sweet tooth fairy is like a bad party guest.

She visits early and stays late ,lasting the entire span of fall and into winter delivering candycorn and gummy worms then later bringing the snowman shaped marshmallows and Christmas tree-shaped chocolates.

I know, my mouth is watering too!
Many of us think we are lucky or it won't happen to you and may not gain more than 1-3 pounds during the holiday season compared to those who may gain 5-10 pounds. However, most of us NEVER lose the pound or two we gain and continue this EVERY YEAR. Ten years later, we are 20 pounds heavier! The key is to control what goes into your body AND to expend a bountiful of calories.

So what can we do to fight what usually feels like the inevitable?

As a starter,Instead of consuming processed sugar and fat laden treats like there is no tomorrow, replace them with homemade goodies.

Here are some ideas you can either try for yourself or bring the family in and make it a family affair.

Nutty Chocolaty Frozen Bananas,
Guilt-Free Pumpkin Pie
Creamy Pumpkin Smoothie.

Email me for the recipes (billy@billycorbettsretrofit.com)

These recipes are delicious and sweet and you will not believe how much better these treats are for you!

If you have children you can involve them and show them that there are delicious alternatives to the typical junk they are fed every holiday season.

BE Prepared for the HOLIDAY CREEP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Time to grow!

Great workout tuesday RetroFIT gang!
Our LaxFIT conditioning camp has really been kicking some butt lately so lets take a few minutes to catch our breath and recognize some progress and milestones.

We're always happy to welcome to new fitness attendees to the group like Alan, Fran and Rhonda.

You guys have stepped right into the training fire as the other campers are in the advanced stages of their program and YOU GUY'S are rockin it!

Congrats to Jodi, who has transformed her shape by dropping a bunch and tightening up dramatically. Look out Denver!

Randy- brother you come in after several knee surgeries and most recently a pretty bad ankle sprain and still.... you are down 10 lbs.! Keep it up Randy.

A quick shout out to Stan, our resident Mr. Positive and overall good guy. Stan came into camp already in great shape and in the past month has honed himself to an iron like animal. Dude, I'm scared to see how far we can take you.

Missy continues doing what she does best. She works her tail off and you can really see how her fitness level has jumped up in the past few weeks. Go get it Mmmmmmissy!

Of course, with the birthday of our country just passing I'd be remiss if I didn't say how proud we are of our laxFIT American Patriot- Mike Lensing. Mike you wont see this for a few months but we want you to know we miss seeing you and Colby and look forward to seeing you in November. Now get down and give me 50!

We're getting ready to grow again with the next step being our move from 2 to 3 days per week.

Also ask me how to earn free camp for the year.

Until next time athlete's....keep up the push!

Coach Billy

SUMMER IS COMING....

So, how is everyone feeling about the bootcamp so far? It’s really great to see the progress you are making. Can you believe we’ve completed the first session already?

With summer quickly approaching it’s time to really kick it into gear and to really follow through on the commitments you’ve made to yourself. There is always going to be a reason NOT to get what you want but what’s the reason to GET what you want?

Is that extra 400 calorie latte, unprocessed meal or even an extra hour of sleep worth losing the chance to get lean and fit? I think not. Let’s kick it in gear and, while you’re at it, bring a friend.

After all...misery loves company!

First Month is in the books!

We've had a great month of fitness training getting ready for the upcoming Colorado lacrosse season. We have had many athletes, young and older, male and female, mother and daughter and have had great fun and sweat.

We went over some basic eating principles, that had been created by my colleague, John Berardi(precision nutrition), and learned about the various movement planes and skills required to be a competitive athlete.

We've had 1 gal drop 7 lbs already and is hungry for the next level of improvement while our 8 yr old ( Colby) is running circles around his competitors on the lacrosse field.

All in all the inaugaural LaxFIT boot camp is on the road to making things happen!
